The Outne Reporter has announced the launch of its Inside Indie independent film channel, which premieres today on THR.com/indie.
The channel, an extension of THR Movies, will be presented at launch by Canon. Readers can expect to find the latest on independent film from world festivals, major castings, distribution deals, financing, weekly specialty box office results and awards.
“We’re thrilled to offer our audience expanded coverage of the indie film market,” says THR editorial director Janice Min. “Independent film is one of the most compelling and dynamic sectors of Hollywood, with some of the biggest and most fascinating personalities involved. Creatively, it’s where risks are born. I’m looking forward to giving the indie world its due.”

Inside Indie — the first THR online film channel devoted exclusively to coverage of the independent film market — will include up-to-the minute galleries, trailers and original videos from the indie film community, the festival circuit and the industry at large.
The channel’s Indie Icons video series will also feature exclusive interviews with some of the industry’s most innovative and esteemed talent, ranging from Academy Award nominated actor-writer Ethan Hawke to inventive filmmaker and social documentarian Morgan Spurlock. Sean Phillips, executive producer of THR Movies, will oversee the project.
The Canon partnership is in conjunction with Canon’s Project Imaginat10n initiative. Project Imaginat10n is a film festival inspired by user photos, which aims to prove director Ron Howard’s motto: “We’re all creative.” Visitors to imagination.usa.canon.com can submit their films inspired by the winning photos from June 4 through July 23.
